Valentine’s merely around the cornera€“and if you are without that special someone, online dating might sound like a practical solution.

Equipped with simply the shining characters and sensuous photographs, the PCWorld employees took a glance at many of the Web’s finest (and geekiest) online dating sites. So that you can sample all of them, we created a female profile (Sarah) and a male any (Alex), and sent some communications to see what might get back to all of us. Here is what we located.

Geek2Geek

Geek 2 Geek: Simply click for full size graphics. Nerd 2 Nerd phone calls by itself a€?the best place online to satisfy geeks.a€? It boasts over 200,000 members, developing by about 6000 customers each month. Its three levels of membershipa€“free, a€?silver,a€? and a€?golda€?a€“allows different amounts of communication. While a no cost account allows you to search limitless profiles and see limitless information, you can’t deliver any out (except to paid gold users) and soon you improve to a silver account.

Geek 2 Technical has a matchmaking solution. Registering was easy and quick, and you do not need to respond to the issues at once (if you undoubtedly can). A photo is also maybe not a profile necessity. Matchmaking concerns put everything from a€?type of feeling of humora€? to a€?areas interesting,a€? and comparable geeks include delivered to your a€?My Matchesa€? inbox.

As for whether you will really get a hold of geeks on this site, well, an instant look-through claims yes. It will help, however, the a€?areas of interesta€? are typical geek-oriented, you need to include choice like a€?online games,a€? a€?Star trip,a€? a€?Tolkien,a€? and a€?Monty Python.a€? The website is actually decently very is fubar a scam easy to navigate, though it’s somewhat busy-looking (it appears to be a lot like a Web hosting site which is selling your things) rather than as good to exploring as some of the other sites we assessed.

Sarah’s consider: This site isn’t really simply for geeksa€“it seems like just about everyone is found on right here. Which makes me personally think most of the users are most likely outdated and/or not being put. Plus, it will require too much info to accomplish your profile.

Alex’s consider: Yeah, a€?geeka€? in this case appears just a€?anyone the master of a pc.a€? That isn’t fundamentally an awful thing, and neither may be the excess of attraction toys like videos, quizzes, and real time speak; merely understand that technical 2 nerd are a full-on social media, not simply a dating solution.

OtakuBooty

OtakuBooty: Simply click for full-size graphics. OtakuBooty is a component online dating and part social media. Title arises from a Japanese slang phase for a€?nerda€? (okay, it really is a lot more of a derogatory name), and concentrates on a less old-fashioned kind of geeka€“the anime/manga/Japan-fan means.

Enrolling is free, and you can see endless free of charge messagesa€“you cannot discover who sent them until such time you subscribe to a compensated account. Fortunately, settled account is only $4 per month or $15 annually, and gives you full the means to access the website.

OtakuBooty keeps the nerd element alive in the site: On the preliminary sign-up web page, requisite fields is noted with an invincibility star; from the payment webpage there is a bogus a€?send hama€? option for a a€?recurring ham registration.a€?

Unfortuitously, this epic nerdiness brings over to the website’s design. OtakuBooty is kind of like Android os OSa€“a little as well rough round the edges. The good news is this particular will frighten off of the ungeeky types that reluctant to manage everything significantly less than an excellent interface. The not so great news would be that there are only plenty tabs. The site looks nearly the same as a negative wikia€“and hey, there’s actually a niche site wiki.
